Partner Elected into CCA

Securities Partner, Holly Sollod, has been elected into The College of Commercial Arbitratorsas a Fellow.  The CCA is a national group of prominent, experienced commercial arbitrators whose professional training and experience qualify them to undertake the most complex and difficult arbitration assignments.  The CCA consists of members who have demonstrated the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and competence, in the field of commercial arbitration.  Holly was chosen based on her substantial experience as a commercial arbitrator, her high ethical standards, and the respect she commands in the field among advocates, other neutrals and users of commercial arbitration services.

Holland & Hart Attorney Appointed as Trustee

  

The Idaho State Bar has appointed partner Bill Myers as the Idaho State Bar's Trustee to the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.  This appointment continues a long tradition of Holland & Hart's involvement with the RMMLF at its highest levels.  The nomination for this position is thanks to another partner, Newal Squyres, who is a trustee of the Idaho State Bar. 

 

The Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation is an educational organization dedicated to providing scholarly research of the laws and issues affecting domestic and international mineral and water resources. The Foundation is a cooperative organization governed by a Board of Trustees which currently consists of representatives from 30 law schools, 13 bar associations, 20 mining and oil and gas associations, plus 25 trustees-at-large (selected from attorneys, landmen, law professors, and government representatives prominent in natural resources), past presidents, and honorary trustees.

 

Industry Focus: Engineers

 

Recently, over a dozen of Nevada’s top engineers gathered at the office of Holland & Hart, LLP to discuss the state of the economy, collection challenges, the sustainable development and green building trends and predictions for 2009. Connie Brennan, publisher of Nevada Business, served as moderator for the monthly event that brings leaders together to discuss issues pertinent to their professions.

Las Vegas Attorney Featured as a Recurrent Obama Volunteer

 The publication India Abroad, has featured Holland & Hart's environmental attorney Manita Rawat for her continuing efforts in Sen. Obama's campaigns.

"Once a volunteer for Obama - be it in your college days - always a volunteer for Barack Obama, apparently seems to be the credo Las Vegas attorney Manita Rawat lives by.

Rawat, the only Indian-American delegate from Nevada, recalled, 'When I was in law school in Illinois at the College of Law at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2004, Senator Obama was running for the US Senate at the time. I decided to volunteer for him and I have continued to volunteer for him because he's a very, very inspiring man.' "

Partner Featured in GWU's Environmental Perspectives Newsletter

Salt Lake City Partner James Holtkamp was recently profiled as a distinguished graduate in a newsletter published by his law school, George Washington University.

In the article, Holtkamp reflects on more than 30 years of practicing in environmental law, saying "Environmental work is a happy combination of interesting issues; dedicated people in the agencies, companies, and public interest groups;and an end result that is good for society and the environment."

New D.C. Partner Elected to AALA Board

Agriculture and food industry attorney Nancy Bryson has been elected to the American Agricultural Law Association Board of Directors.  The American Agricultural Law Association (AALA) is the only national professional organization focusing on the legal needs of the agricultural community. It offers an independent forum for investigation of innovative and workable solutions to complex agricultural law problems.

Holland & Hart Partner Said to Have 20/20 Vision

 

Business attorney Timothy A. Lukas was named one of Nevada Business Journal's 20/20 executives. In their first annual 20/20 issue, Nevada Business Journal recognizes 20 remarkable executives that have made significant contributions to Nevada’s business community. Lukas is awarded for his leadership as managing partner of Hale Lane in its merger with Holland & Hart. Lukas is the only attorney listed.

Proposed Actions Involving GHGs Not Subject to ESA Consultation

Natural Resources attorney Melissa C. Meirink writes about the Department of the Interior's issued Solicitor's Opinion on Holland & Hart's Climate Change Law Blog. The Solicitor's Opinion concludes that greenhouse gases emissions do not meet the threshold regulations of the Endangered Species Act.
