Gov. Bill Ritter recently issued an Executive Order to create the Colorado Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. The twenty-person commission, appointed by the Governor, includes Holland & Hart partner, Thorvald Nelson of the firm's Denver Tech Center office.
The Commission is charged to study the significance of Abraham Lincoln’s Presidency in preparation for the anniversary celebration in February, 2009. The Commission will also promote understanding, awareness and appreciation of how the West shaped Lincoln, and encourage dialogue about civic engagement.
The Governor held a press conference today regarding the Colorado Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. Nelson is spearheading the essay contest and spoke on it at the press conference.
