Holland & Hart Attorneys Named 2012 Lawyers of the Year

Holland & Hart LLP is proud to announce that 18 of its attorneys have been named 2012 Lawyers of the Year by Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is being honored as the "Lawyer of the Year."

Holland & Hart Named a Best Law Firm for Women by the National Association for Female Executives and Flex-Time Lawyers

Holland & Hart LLP has been named among the nation's 50 Best Law Firms for Women by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE), a division of Working Mother Media, and consulting firm Flex-Time Lawyers.

Holland & Hart is the only Denver-based law firm to receive the 2011 award. This is the second time the firm has been listed as one of the top 50 firms in the nation for creating a supportive work environment for women. Holland & Hart was also named to the 50 Best Law Firms for Women in 2009. No award was made in 2010.

Brad Berge Named Fellow of Litigation Counsel of America

Santa Fe attorney Brad Berge of the law firm Holland & Hart has been selected as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA). The LCA is a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Mr. Berge has been a trial lawyer in New Mexico since 1980, and he represents clients from a variety of industries. He is certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Board of Legal Specialization of the New Mexico State Bar.

Holland & Hart Secures Benchmark Patent Infringement Award

SALT LAKE CITY (January 31, 2011) – Holland & Hart has secured a patent infringement award of approximately $23.9 million on behalf of its client K-Tec Inc., manufacturer of Blendtec blenders, against competitor Vita-Mix Corporation. 

On January 26, 2011, United States Judge Tena Campbell awarded $11 million in enhanced damages, plus $1.9 million in pre-judgment interest and costs, with additional post-verdict damages to be determined. This award is in addition to the $11 million in damages already awarded by a jury in June 2010. 

Holland & Hart's Robert Bassett Named A "Most Highly Regarded Individual" For Mining Law In The International Who's Who Of Business Lawyers – Mining 2011

Denver attorney Robert Bassett is one of only ten attorneys in the world, and the only U.S. attorney, to be listed as a “Most Highly Regarded Individual” for mining law in the 2011 edition of the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers - Mining.

Holland & Hart received the most nominations of any U.S. firm in the mining category. In addition to Bassett, Holland & Hart attorneys Paul Schlauch, Jack Palma, and Lawrence Wolfe were featured in the publication.  

The attorneys selected for this honor were nominated by their peers as the world's leading practitioners in mining law.  The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers independently identifies the world’s foremost attorneys in 31 areas of business law, and it is impossible to buy entry into the publication.

Jon Bender Awarded 2010 Sandra Day O'Connor Award for Professional Service

Jon Bender was awarded the 2010 Sandra Day O'Connor Award for Professional Service at the U.S. Supreme Court on Oct. 23. The award was given by the American Inns of Court for excellence in public interest or pro bono activities.  

The American Inns of Court established the Sandra Day O'Connor Award for Professional Service honoring an American Inn member in practice 10 or fewer years for excellence in public interest or pro bono activities. The purpose of the Award is to honor an Inn member each year for exemplary service and to honor Justice O'Connor for being the paragon of professional service throughout her distinguished career while exemplifying legal excellence, civility, ethics and professionalism.

Bender’s legal practice focuses on corporate, real estate, environmental, and professional negligence litigation matters. He represents clients in a variety of industries, including mining, real estate, oil and gas, and financial services. He has significant experience defending Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act claims, Colorado Organized Crime Control Act claims, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act claims, and he regularly assists members of the Colorado General Assembly in responding to Colorado Open Records Act requests.

Holland & Hart's Michael S. Beaver Named "Denver Area Best Lawyers® Insurance Lawyer of the Year" for 2011

Holland & Hart’s Michael S. Beaver has been recognized as the “Denver Area Best Lawyers® Insurance Lawyer of the Year” for 2011 by Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.

Mr. Beaver  represents a number of major life insurers, in disputes relating to employee benefits as well as life, disability, and annuity contracts.  He also defends personal injury and other lawsuits in the ski and recreation industries.  Mr. Beaver has appeared in and led the defense of cases throughout the United States.   For more than 20 years he has also been active in the leadership of the ABA's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section.

Holland & Hart’s Gregory A. Eurich has been recognized as the “Denver Best Lawyers® Labor and Employment Lawyer of the Year” for 2011 by Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.

Mr. Eurich has practiced at Holland & Hart since 1973. He has extensive experience in virtually all phases of labor law, with particular emphasis on litigation of labor disputes. His work has included defending major clients against claims of race, sex, age, disability and national origin discrimination; actions involving collective bargaining agreements; and a variety of wrongful discharge claims in lawsuits before state and federal trial and appellate courts in much of the Western United States.

Holland & Hart's Betty Arkell Named to Governor's Venture Capital Investment Advisory Committee

Governor Bill Ritter has named Holland & Hart partner Betty Arkell to a newly-formed advisory committee on venture capital investment. The committee of 21 members will be tasked with attracting venture capital support for several specific industries targeted for growth, including aerospace, bioscience, clean energy, and information communication technology.

“Many of my current clients are early-stage companies in these high-growth industries,” said Arkell. “Helping them with their venture capital financings has been quite fulfilling, so I am honored to have been invited by the Governor to participate on such an important panel.”

Arkell is a corporate and securities lawyer, with extensive experience in venture capital investments. She was counsel to the Venture Capital Association of Colorado at the time of its formation. She has been recognized by numerous lawyer ranking organizations, having been listed in The Best Lawyers in America®, Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business, and Colorado Super Lawyers; selected as Denver's Outstanding Woman in Business by the Denver Business Journal in 2006; honored by Lawdragon as one of the 500 Leading Dealmakers in America in 2007; and selected as one of Law Week Colorado's "Top Women Lawyers" in 2008.
