Holland & Hart Among Presenters to Discuss Environmental Issues in Legislative Session

Sansonetti_TomAttorney Thomas Sansonetti will be one of the presenters at the Idaho Environmental Form's Legislative Forecast Gala. Leaders in Idaho environmental issues will discuss the current state budget shortfall and other issues at the event.

In addition to the state's budget crunch, speakers will discuss the Snake River Aquifer, energy policy, transportation, proposed license increases, conservation and federal policy.

Cheyenne Partner to Speak at Third Annual Western Conference

Sansonetti_Tom Holland & Hart partner, Thomas Sansonetti will be one of the featured speakers at this year's Third Annual Western Conference: "Federal Sovereignty, State Sovereignty, and the Sovereignty of 562 Native American Tribes: A Match Made in Heaven or Somewhere Less Pleasant?"

The conference will be held Saturday, January 24 in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library of Simi Valley, California. On the agenda, among other things, are round-table discussions, panel discussions, and a debate.

Firm Hosts Round-table in Nevada

Recently, ten executives, representing some of Nevada’s top CPA firms, gathered at the office of Holland & Hart, LLP to discuss the challenges of implementing a number of new accounting standards, the evolution of the industry and how the demographics of the industry are changing and presenting their own challenges. Connie Brennan, publisher of Nevada Business Journal, served as moderator for this monthly event that brings leaders together to discuss issues pertinent to their professions.

Partner to Speak at "Fundementals of Securities Law" Seminar

Berdan_Scott Holland & Hart partner, Scott Berdan will be speaking at the CLE seminar titled Fundamentals of Securities Law, on January 30. The seminar will be held by the Colorado Bar Association and is designed for attorneys entering securities law practice, business law attorneys who need a good working knowledge of securities law, broker-dealers and other securities industry professionals, corporate management, and anyone who needs to get up to speed on concepts in securities law.

The seminar is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the CLECI Large Classroom in Denver. A live webcast of the seminar will be available.

Partner to Speak at 2009 Hospitality Law Conference

Gutierrez_Steve Holland & Hart Partner, Steven Gutierrez will speak at the Seventh Annual Hospitality Law Conference on February 9-11, 2009.  Gutierrez is currently the chair of the firm's Labor & Employment practice group and the primary contributor to the firm's employment law blog. He will speak on how to manage new technology, including blogs, instant messaging, and camera phones, and he will discuss issues concerning how to discipline and avoid loss of trade secrets.

The Annual Hospitality Law Conference brings together more than 350 private attorneys, human resource professionals, in-house counsel, loss-prevention personnel, risk managers, and hospitality owners and operators to learn about a host of legal issues pertinent to the hospitality industry.

 

The 2009 Hospitality Law Conference features new additions, including breakout tracks for Payment Card Industry (“PCI”) topics, risk management, and hospitality law basics. Core conference sessions will cover the areas of lodging, food and beverage, human resources, and loss prevention. Topics to be addressed include franchising, union and collective bargaining, incentive fees in management contracts, wage and hour laws, and employment and immigration laws.

Holland & Hart paralegal to speak at paralegal technology conference

Hindinking_debraParalegal Debra Hindin-King will be a speaker and a member of the advisory committee for the First Annual Paralegal Technology Institute at Legal Tech 2009 in New York and in Los Angeles. The Legal Tech show in New York attracts over 30,000 legal professionals during the course of the 3 day event. 

The conference will be held at Legal Tech at the Hilton Hotel New York on Feb. 2-4th and at the Los Angeles Convention Center in June. Hindin-King's topics will include techniques in document management (both paper and electronic) and technology to consider while setting up the optimum war room.

Anne Castle to Speak at Cornell's Sustainable Conference

Cornell University Law School has invited Holland & Hart attorney, Anne Castle, to speak at their November 2008 conference: Defining Sustainable Development: Land Use, Climate Change and Water Resources. The conference will explore the concept of sustainability through law and its impact upon business. Castle is a practitioner in water rights and water quality law, and has over twenty-five years of experience in water rights practice. She has represented a wide variety of clients in water court litigation, including adjudications of water rights, changes in water rights and plans for augmentation, and appeals. The conference seeks to find how clean water can be protected, controlled and distributed as it becomes more scarce. Castle will talk about Water Rights and how particular water laws or regulations affect her practice.
